China AIDS Fund 10th Year Anniversary Celebration Gala

Charles (founder of Harvest International Commercial Real Estate) and Daphne Chan (President) celebrated the 10^th Year Anniversary China AIDS Fund (CAF) Celebration Gala and Award Ceremony at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Manhattan yesterday evening.  This annual event directs proceeds toward CAF programs in China and the United States that aim to spread awareness of HIV/AIDS and provide resources for prevention.

“Despite billions of dollars committed by the China government every year to this cause, we learn that there is still a need to help individuals on a very personal level, especially in the rural areas.” -Mona So (Honorary Chairwoman) and Michael Tong’s (Dinner Chairman) welcome message.

This year’s 2013 Gala is CAF’s fourth time around and through continuous private donations and volunteerism, they were able to reach great milestones.  Some of the milestones accomplished were the launching of the first public education campaign to bring awareness of AIDS in Hong Kong and Guang Zhou by  providing billboards of the NBA Star Yao Ming next to Magic Johnson; China AIDS Media Project (a documentary on the reality of HIV/AIDS); Chinese Association of STD/AIDS Prevention & Control (providing care and support in the PLWHA community of Beijing); 1^st and 2^nd China AIDS Fund Henan Children Center; China AIDS Fund Sunrise Library and much more.
